The Great Plains Chapter is one of the newest & oldest chapter of the BMW CCA
(BMW Car Club of America). How exactly is that possible?

Great Plains is a new name for the chapter. It was previously known as the Missouri Valley chapter and before that the Cornhusker chapter. The chapter name was recently changed to better describe who we are both within BMW CCA and to the general public. People often assumed the Missouri Valley chapter was in Missouri. Our new name should eliminate such confusion.

Show and Shine Cruise with Porsche Club
May 5th – Sonic on South 48th Street and Hwy 2 – Lincoln, NE

The crowd usually starts gathering around 5:30 - 6 PM and stays for a few hours. You'll see lots of Porsches, BMWs, Mercedes and other cool cars. There have Ferraris and Lamborghinis in the past. This is a very family friendly event. So grab the spouse and kids and come hang out for a little while. Plus all food is 50% off to club members.

Free Tech Inspections
May 12th & May 19th – BMW of Lincoln – Lincoln, NE

If you are planning to attend the upcoming Flat Out Classic in June you need to make sure your car is in a safe and proper condition. This requires a tech inspection from a qualified shop. BMW of Lincoln is doing free tech inspections for event attendees. Simply call the BMW of Lincoln service department and schedule your appointment. They have set aside time on Sat. May 12th and Sat. May 19th to do tech inspections for club members. Space is limited so call to make your appointment soon. If those dates don't fit your schedule, don't sweat it. Call and they will do their best to accomodate you at another time. Please tell them you are scheduling a Flat Out Classic tech inspection. Also don't forget to print out your tech forms. You need to have the forms filled out and signed. Space is limited and these free inspections are intend for event participants.

Flat Out Classic
June 8 - 10 – Heartland Park – Topeka, KS

This is a car lover's dream event you'll never forget! The Great Plains, Kansas City, Sunbelt and St. Louis chapters of the BMW Car Club of America announce the inaugural Flat Out Classic to be held in Topeka, Kansas from June 8 - 10. The Flat Out Classic is an automotive festival featuring several events that appeal to a diverse group of enthusiasts. Car lovers from across the US will gather at Heartland Park Topeka to participate in a high-performance drivers school, adult car control clinic, autocross and car show. It's an opportunity for you to drive the same professional level race track that has been on ESPN, ABC and SPEED TV.

This groundbreaking event celebrating our passion for automobiles is made possible by the support of the event's title sponsor, BMW of Lincoln. While BMW is the festival's featured marque other brands such as Audi, Corvette, Ford, Mercedes, MINI, Pontiac, Porsche, Subaru and Volkswagen are expected.

Most events are primarily centered around Lincoln & Omaha since the majority of members live in these area. However we have traveled to the Black Hills several times for events. Events have also been held in other parts of Nebraska, South Dakota & Western Iowa. Example include: Kearney Cruise, Loess Hills Driving Tour, wine tours in Nebraska City and driving schools in Hastings, NE and Pacific Junction, IA. Due to member interest we have started a sub-chapter in the Sioux Falls, SD.

At this time our Sioux Falls Area sub chapter has gone dormant. We are actively seeking a representative in the area to serve as a local point of contact. Happy Holiday Season,

Winter is about on us here in the Midwest. One question….is your car ready? I spent some of the unseasonably nice weather installing winter tires on the X5 and the pressures were set correctly. I also topped all the fluids and made sure the wiper blades are in good shape, and if you have one, don’t forget the rear wiper on your SAV. Looks like summer is easing into fall at a nice slow pace, giving me just enough time to get the last clean, wax and maintenance done on the vehicles before it gets too cold out. Like many here, I have a set of tires and wheels specifically for winter driving, and another set for the summer. I have been trying to eliminate all the small leaks on my E30 (second generation 3 series for the uninitiated) for some time. I thought that I had tracked them all down, but still had a persistent slow oil leak. With a little help from Markel BMW I finally tracked it down to the oil filter housing. BMW has a kit to repair the common problem, part number 11 42 9 059 338. The kit replaces the valve cover, the O ring and the retaining clip.
